Birmingham City Council have launched their consultations on saving £18 million from the budget. Proposals include using volunteers to staff the Hall of Memory, slashing the Library budget for new books and introducing a new vermin control charge of £25 to deal with rat infestations. There will also be a £10 increase for green waste wheelie bins. Car parking charges will rise and they will look to raise more money from cemeteries.
